Transparency and traceability, sustainable economic growth, fair employment and opportunity for growth, decent work for all, protecting the people and the planet our some our core values. Fair Trade/Fairtrade certification means ensuring for all workers the following: legal wages and benefits, improved livelihoods, safe and healthy workplaces, gender equality, women’s rights, and not only accountable but also responsible workplace throughout the entire supply chain. Most importantly, Fair Trade/Fairtrade guarantees that no child or forced labor is used to make products throughout the supply chain.

Our products are made at a certified Fair Trade factory and our organic cotton is Fairtrade America Certified. When you choose fair trade products ,you are a part of the movement that promotes and supports sustainability throughout the supply chain. Fair Trade USA and Fairtrade America (a part of Fairtrade International) operate independently, but have similar standards and benefits. 

Here are some of the standards and practices of Fair Trade USA Certifications:

(1) Fair Trade is a labeling initiative intended to improve the lives of the poor and underprivileged by offering better terms to farmers and workers,

(2) Fair Trade certification requires supply chain traceability, and

(3) In order to use the Fair Trade logo and claim, all entities involved in the production, processing, manufacturing, and handling of the product need to be certified or registered with Fair Trade USA.

Here are some of the standards and practices of Fairtrade International (America) Certifications:

(1) Fairtrade is the largest and most recognized fair trade system with more than 30 international offices.

(2) The benefits of Fairtrade go beyond just extra income for farmers – they also address issues like gender equality and climate change The Standards ban child labor and protect workers' rights. 

(3) Individuals also benefit from Fairtrade. In general, more people are wondering where their food comes from and if their purchases are harming or helping. We all know that one or two people in our network that is a vocal champion for the things they care about – like fair food, workers’ rights or fair pay. 

Fair Trade/Fairtrade Helps Build Sustainable Businesses

By buying our eco-friendly products you are promoting ethical businesses. In addition, all Fair Trade Certified products require a premium – these funds are sent directly to a worker’s controlled bank account. These premiums are used for a wide variety of community development projects, which are chosen by a democratically elected Fair Trade Committee. These projects include facilitation of education, health programs, clean water projects and leadership training. Fair Trade products are environmentally responsible as Fair Trade certification requires accountability in our environmental impact. We use GOTS certified organic cotton to make our products. When you buy Fair Trade certified products you empower farmers and workers throughout the supply chain since Fair Trade certification requires freedom of association and protection of the right to organize, right to collective bargaining, and equal remuneration. The process of electing a Fair Trade Committee, developing a Fair Trade Plan, and making choices on how to spend the Fair Trade Premium, enhances the capacity of individuals or groups to make choices and transform them into desired actions and outcomes. Through these practices and standards smallholders are able to build individual and collective assets and effectively represent themselves in their negotiations with the Market Access Partner.

Rather than creating dependency on aid, Fair Trade uses a market-based approach that empowers farmers to get a fair price for their harvest, and workers are ensured to get a decent living wage. The Fair Trade Standard protects the rights of children and young persons to an education and a safe and age-appropriate workplace.
